Event: 1st birthday party plus 2 nights accommodation.

We absolutely loved Nga Manu Reserve for our baby's first birthday party and I couldn't recommend it more! I found it easy to communicate with Woodie over email and phone, all from Melbourne. We checked in on the 23rd Jan and out on the 25th Jan 2026.

We were after a spot that could fit our crew of 40 family and friends, plus 20 kids, and we initially were looking for an airbnb to accomodate as we wanted somewhere comfy for bub to nap during the party but then we found this place which was way better than any airbnb. The one-bed cottage, (Theo's Cottage) situated alongside the indoor venue (robin's Nest) was perfect for me, Baby and hubby, (King bed) with a pull-out couch for grandma to crash if needed. And the best part? The kids party package was a steal! We booked both morning and arvo sessions and had the Robin's Nest venue all to ourselves, complete with kitchen, appliances, crockery and table cloths, even tea and coffee . We planned the party for 11am - 2pm and we had access to the venue from 830- 5pm giving us heaps of time to set up and pack/clean up. We were able to customise the activities included in the kids party package to suit us too. The kids really enjoyed the lil explorers trail and so did the parents. Feeding the eels was a highlight. And the volunteers were knowledgeable and helpful.

We planned to have the party set-up outside but the weather wasn't great so we were grateful we had a wet weather contingency with heaps of room inside for tables and kids running around.

We booked the cottage the night before the party and the night after which was ideal as it meant we could put bub down for a nap during the party and have time to set up and pack down the party without stressing. We also had full access to the entire reserve when it closed at 5pm. We explored the bush walk, lookout and enclosures. Although, they had kiwi night experiences booked on the nights we were there so we had a few cars coming and going but everyone was quiet so it wasn't disruptive for us. Wish we had done it too.

Overall, I would do it all again and hope for sunny weather next time.

I used Robin's Nest for my daughters' 21st celebration. It was a lovely, serene space. The venue was well appointed with ample tables and chairs. Staff were helpful and friendly. Couldn't do enough to ensure things went well. I couldn't recommend this venue enough.

Can't speak highly enough of the experience, the venue and the warm and welcoming staff at Ngā Manu. Professional and knowledgeable staff. Special thanks for Rhys for the wonderful tours, the students, teachers and parents loved the experience, making memories that they'll remember for a lifetime. If you have a chance to take your class, or book for a teacher professional development, it's so worth it.
