My son has attended Grey Lynn Kindy for 2 years before heading to school and I can't recommend it enough. It has given him the right level of independence and structure to develop confidence and also prepare him for school. The teacher group are so dedicated and lovely, I have always felt my son to be very fortunate to have such wonderful people guiding his learning journey. The kindy and outside facilities are just what kids need. It is an old villa but has so many learning resources and the outside section is huge with a massive sandpit, swings (the kids favourite) and best of all - pockets of natural bush/plants for exploring. Will be sending my second there soon!

Our son has been going here for almost a year now and he absolutely loves it. The large outdoor play area and lovely flow from the house to the garden is so lovely.

The kaiako (teachers) are genuinely caring, experienced, and incredibly attentive to each child’s personality and needs. The learning environment is calm, nurturing, and full of opportunities to explore — both inside and in their beautiful outdoor area.

We also love how much the kaiako have a wide variety of different and new activities, both indoor and outdoor, every day! The activities cater to the children’s individual interests (in our son’s case, water play, sand and trucks) while also piquing their interest in new things. The activities also encourage connection with nature and local culture.

I really love how they do things to give the kids something to look forward to - snow days, bringing in the local fire truck, puppet shows, marae visits, as well as more practical safety education like what to do in an earthquake and personal safety/body awareness.

The kindy has a real community feel — it’s not just a drop-off, it’s a place where families are part of something meaningful. There’s a whanau group and Storypark where we get regular updates and stories, it’s great for keeping the grandparents who are overseas involved in what my son gets up to.

It’s also particularly special knowing this kindy has been around for over 100 years! A true treasure in Grey Lynn.

Highly recommend to any parent looking for a kind, inclusive, and enriching early learning experience.
